ZF Linux Devices Establishes European Headquarters with Acquisition of Egal Plus OEM
Pioneering Embedded Market Distributor Will Provide Sales, Marketing, Technical and Warranty Support For Europe, Africa and Middle East
Palo Alto, CA, January 14, 1998

ZF Linux Devices, Inc., with offices in the US and South America, today announced the establishment of its European headquarters with the acquisition of Egal Plus OEM, a pioneer in the distribution of products for the embedded PC market. The office, located minutes from Paris includes sales and marketing offices, a technical support laboratory for project development and testing, and conference and logistics facilities. The acquisition of Egal Plus OEM brings ZF Linux Devices a staff with more than forty years of combined experience in the embedded systems market and establishes a full-service base of operations for ZF Linux Devices customers throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. One of the European operation's primary focus is to provide on-going training and support to the ZF Linux Devices distribution network across the regions.

"During a relationship spanning more than 14 years, Egal Plus OEM was the single most successful distributor for Ampro Computers, the first company I founded," said David Feldman, the president and founder of ZF Linux Devices and the creator of the PC/104 concept and the 5º" Single Board Computer (SBC). "Due to an unfaltering commitment to customer service and support, Mr. Lequeux, president and founder of Egal Plus OEM, and his staff were instrumental in helping make my concept for the PC/104 standard successful throughout Europe. I am confident that with their help the OEMmoduleô embedded PC will far surpass the success of that standard."

"Europe's continuing impact on the electronics market is forecast as an area of significant growth through the next decade, and with this acquisition, ZF Linux Devices will be strongly positioned as an active participant," continued Mr. Feldman.

Alain Lequeux will remain with the organization as the Managing Director of ZF Linux's European headquarters.

"For quite some time, I have seen the need for a more reliable and cost effective embedded PC than traditional computer board offerings. Until ZF Linux Devices introduced the OEMmodule, there was no complete cost effective solution. I looked at ZF Linux's product line and immediately saw the future of embedded control. We are very excited to join forces with a company whose vision and values align so closely with our own. Mr. Feldman and his staff truly understand the importance of providing localized management and support, and are focused on meeting the needs of the embedded PC customer base throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East," said Mr. Lequeux.

"The level of support that the Egal Plus OEM staff allows us to instantly provide to both our customers and distribution partners in Europe, Africa and the Middle East is unsurpassed in the industry", said Mark Wronski, Vice President of International Sales at ZF Linux Devices. "ZF is seriously committed to this market, and our ability to combine local, real-time, high level sales and technical support with a highly trained distribution network spells success for our customers."

ZF Linux's European headquarters is located at 30, rue du Morvan, Silic 558, 94643 Rungis CÈdex, FRANCE and can be contacted by phone at +33 (0) 1 41 80 04 10 or via fax at +33 (0) 1 41 80 04 11.

David L. Feldman founded ZF Linux Devices in 1995 after leaving Ampro Computers, the company that he founded in 1983. Two of Mr. Feldman's concepts have become industry standards in the embedded market (the 5º" form factor single board computer and the modular PC/104 "stackable" architecture). The company designs and markets OEMmodules, the most highly integrated X86-compatible computers and peripheral controller modules available for the embedded market. The devices, which provide the functionality of a desktop computer in a 240-pin surface-mount package that can be integrated as easily as a chip, are the most reliable, and cost-effective available.
